A beach all to yourself

Keep an eye out for idyllic swimming spots in the Usedom Achterwasser. They’re hidden away in secluded coves of the Achterwasser among the reeds and are true hidden gems. With a little luck, you’ll have these favorite spots all to yourself.

Swimming Area in Pudagla

The locals call it Pudagla Beach: The swimming spot in Pudagla is a hotspot for romantic sunsets and socializing around the stone barbecue area. Families in particular feel right at home on the fine sandy beach and in the shallow Achterwasser. Do you know the legend of the impressive Devil’s Rock, which lies in the water below Kronker Mountain? The devil was actually aiming for Pudagla Monastery when the rock slipped from his grasp and rolled into the water.

Swimming Area at Lake Neppermin

Lake Neppermin is not actually a lake at all, but rather a bay of the Achterwasser. Settle down on the sunbathing lawn at the tranquil swimming spot and enjoy the view of the uninhabited bird sanctuary islands of Werder and Böhmke. Occasionally, the imposing sailing schooner Weisse Düne glides through this idyllic scene, heading for the Achterwasser. After sunbathing, you can grab a bite to eat at the Tante Wally garden café or at the Nepperminer Fischpalast.

Beach on the Gnitz Peninsula

The swimming spot in Lütow, at the southern tip of the Gnitz Peninsula, is a hidden gem. It’s located right in the middle of a nature reserve. You can only reach it after a short hike or bike ride. You’ll love the wild, natural beach below the cliffs of the Weisser Berg. While the sand isn’t quite as fine as on the Baltic Sea beach, you’ll find a quiet spot all to yourself. On the way back, stop for a break at Café Seelchen.

Beaches on the Lieper Winkel Peninsula

At Lieper Winkel, you can leave the hustle and bustle of the Baltic Sea resorts far behind. On the shores of the Peenestrom or the Achterwasser, you’ll find child-friendly beaches and shady spots under the trees. From the swimming spots in Warthe and Warthe Ausbau, you can see the Loddiner Höft and the Gnitz Peninsula directly across the water. In Qulitz, a short distance further toward the Peenestrom, you’ll also find a spot where you can spread out your beach towel.
