Circular Trails and Hiking Tours on Usedom
Round Trip to the Southern Tip of Gnitz
Rugged cliffs, gnarled pines, open dunes, and blooming salt marshes: Enjoy the unique natural landscapes of the Achterwasser on this 5-kilometer loop trail away from the seaside resorts. Starting from the small village of Lütow, the trail leads past reed beds and coves to Mövenort and on to the Weisser Berg, offering a magnificent view over the Achterwasser. With a little luck, you might even spot some white-tailed eagles on your hike.

Circular Tour Through the Lieper Winkel
Your journey begins in Warthe, where time seems to stand still. Scattered thatched cottages and gnarled willow trees lead you to the banks of the Achterwasser. The Lieper Winkel in the Achterland is a place for explorers—abundant nature and rural tranquility await you. The village church in Liepe is the oldest on the island and well worth a detour. Sculptures by regional artists are on display in the former cemetery.

Hiking in Peenemünde – A Journey Through Time
The loop trail around Peenemünde takes you to historic sites in the very north of Usedom. First, you’ll arrive at the Peenemünde airfield, which today features a go-kart track, sightseeing flights, and historic tours. Walking along the salt flats, you’ll return to the town of Peenemünde, where you can take a look inside the Historical-Technical Museum. As you walk through the town, you’ll pass the former oxygen plant on your way back to the train station.

Step by Step to Hiking Bliss
The Northern Part of the Island in Two Stages
Discover northern Usedom on two day trips. The first leg takes you from Loddin via Koserow to Zinnowitz. Enjoy the view from the Loddiner Höft, climb the Streckelsberg in Koserow, and discover the unique seaside resort architecture in Zinnowitz. The second leg goes from Peenemünde via Karlshagen and Trassenheide, from the former Army Research Center to the gray heron nesting grounds.

Hiking Along the Seaside Resort Architecture
At the end of the 19th century, summer vacations by the sea were reserved for the wealthy middle class and the nobility. They left the island of Usedom a precious legacy: magnificent seaside villas that you can admire while strolling along Europe’s longest beach promenade. Plan as many stops as you’d like to take in the magnificent collection of buildings stretching from Bansin through Heringsdorf to Ahlbeck.
