UBB Supports the Youth Scene in Wolgast
The Peenebunker Wolgast Youth Center is a gathering place for children and teenagers to interact, and a place where young people can discover and develop their own strengths. The UBB supports this work through a fundraising campaign.
An Attractive Tourist Destination in Wolgast Is Set to Be Restored
For years now, the “Peenebunker” youth center in Wolgast has been organizing extensive projects with children and teenagers. Probably the largest of these is the current reconstruction of the concert pavilion in Belvedere Park in Wolgast. Youth center staff member Andreas Keil encourages the young people here—as he does with all other projects—to work together as a team and create something new through their own efforts. For this reason, no outside contractor will be hired to carry out the reconstruction work; instead, the young people themselves will do it. The goal is to turn the site back into a venue and gathering place for all age groups—after all, once the park, with its concert pavilion, was the primary destination for day trips in the city on the Peenestrom. Just at the beginning of March, another spring cleaning took place, during which the park was cleared of trash.

Leisure Activities at All Levels
The boys and girls at the youth center also engage intensively with the ever-present topic of “sustainability.” In the center’s in-house bike workshop, they not only learn how to use tools, but also that disposal should be the last resort. For the regular bike rides, there's first some DIY repair and work to be done. The skate ramps and the bike and dirt park in the courtyard were also built from scratch, with materials funded by donations. Those who want to let their musical creativity run wild will also find plenty to do at the “Peenebunker.” Under the guidance of Andreas Keil, who works in the music industry himself, the teens can try their hand at various instruments, such as guitar and drums, discover their singing potential, or make their own music recordings.

Teens Design UBB Bags
The UBB team is impressed by the dedication of the staff and young people at the youth center in Wolgast. For several years now, UBB has regularly supported projects for children. Now, as part of a UBB fundraising campaign, this contribution will benefit the youth scene in Wolgast. To this end, fanny packs featuring the UBB design will be sold, with the proceeds donated to the “Peenebunker.” The young people are designing these bags themselves. By purchasing one, you, too, can get involved and support the great work these young people are doing. The fanny packs are available in the UBB online store and in person at UBB travel centers.
