The Usedom Beach Marathon is a unique cross-country marathon along the German Baltic Sea coast on the island of Usedom. The race takes place entirely on sand—no asphalt, no traffic—right along the Baltic Sea.
Running barefoot through the sand, the wind in your face, and the sound of the Baltic Sea in your ears: In 2027, the Usedom Beach Marathon will take place for the second time. Experience a running course like no other—right by the water, along the endless coastline of the sun-drenched island of Usedom.
Here, athletic excellence and the power of nature merge to create an unforgettable marathon experience. Every step challenges you, and every kilometer rewards you with unique views and a sense of boundless freedom.

The starting areas (Zinnowitz, Koserow, or Ahlbeck) of the Usedom Beach Marathon serve as the vibrant hubs of the event. In the hosted event and exhibition area, runners and visitors experience the true marathon atmosphere right on Ahlbeck Beach, where the shared finish area is located for all race distances. From 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., a professional program of activities provides motivation, information, and entertainment. The program in the finish area in Ahlbeck is hosted by the well-known presenter Ilka Groenewold , whose energetic style ensures a great atmosphere and emotional finishes. Thanks to convenient baggage transfer, you can focus fully on your run. After crossing the finish line, an “after-run chill-out” awaits you with music, a sense of community, and a relaxed beach vibe—the perfect place to celebrate your success and wind down the day by the sea.
There will be 11 aid stations along the course, offering water, Xenofit Isodrink, bananas, Xenofit gels, Xenofit bars, and Loddin cola.

Experience recovery, fun, and action right on the event grounds in Ahlbeck at the Usedom Beach Marathon: At the BEMER Recovery Point, in partnership with OstseeTherme Usedom, you can recharge your energy. Two physical therapists will be on hand from 11:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. with portable massage tables. For our younger guests, a bounce house provided by HSV Insel Usedom offers great entertainment, while the Colorbike provides extra exercise and a fun atmosphere. Perfect for taking a breather, joining in, and enjoying yourself!
As a participant in the Usedom Beach Marathon, you’ll enjoy a running event with a wide range of amenities. You’ll receive an official race number, reliable and professional timing, and refreshments along the course. After successfully crossing the finish line, you’ll receive a high-quality finisher’s medal as a lasting memento of your personal beach marathon experience. Your certificate and race results are conveniently available online—ensuring an exciting and successful marathon on the Baltic Sea.
The safety of all participants is our top priority. Medical care provided by qualified first-aid services is guaranteed throughout the entire event. Participants must follow the instructions of event staff at all times.
At the same time, the Usedom Beach Marathon is committed to treating nature and the coastal environment responsibly. This includes measures to reduce waste and keep beaches clean, raising awareness about coastal protection, and collaborating with regional partners to minimize transportation distances. All participants are invited to actively contribute to the protection of nature.
The event follows the guidelines of the German Athletics Association (DLV). The 2026 competition year and the participants’ respective years of birth are decisive for scoring and eligibility.
The awards ceremony for the 1st through 3rd place finishers in each age group will take place at 2:30 p.m. in the finish area in Ahlbeck.
For each distance, there will be an overall ranking separated by gender. The overall ranking is not based on age groups.
Age-group rankings will be determined in accordance with DLV guidelines.
The results will be available online after the event.
The relay marathon will be scored separately. There will be an overall team ranking. There will be no age-group rankings.
The Bambini Run will be timed. All participating children will receive a medal.
Race packets will be distributed at the Ahlbeck concert venue (Promenade 12, 17419 Seebad Heringsdorf) on June 4, 2027, from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on June 5, 2027, from 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.
The key to a successful race is proper preparation—and that starts with choosing your accommodations. To ensure you’re well-rested when you line up at the starting line on race day, it’s a good idea to book your accommodations early—somewhere that combines easy access to the race with optimal recovery. Whether right on the promenade or as a cozy retreat for the team, the lakeside resorts offer the perfect temporary home for every type of runner.

Since spots are limited, we recommend that you register early—this will also help you avoid the flat late registration fee of €10.00, which applies to any remaining spots starting May 25, 2027.
