The former fishing port of Kamminke is the most eastern port on the island of Usedom. It is located in the northeastern part of the Kleines Haff, right on the Polish border. The atmosphere here is very unspoiled. This “Land’s End” on the cliffs, far away from the hustle and bustle of the big ports and towns, will captivate you.
Water Sports on Usedom

Usedom: Sports and the Sea!
Have you ever thought about learning to sail or kitesurf? Usedom offers excellent water sports spots along the coastline and on the Achterwasser. Extensive areas for standing still allow even beginners to enjoy exhilarating successes in these trendy sports.
Sailing on Usedom
Where better to experience the feeling of boundless freedom more intensely than on the open sea? The wind and waves clear your mind. On the island of Usedom, there are yacht and leisure marinas on the Baltic Sea, the Achterwasser, and the Szczecin Lagoon where you can rent sailboats, charter yachts, or take sailing lessons. Skippers in the harbors of Stagnieß, Krummin, Zinnowitz, and Karlshagen offer their guests sailing trips lasting half a day or longer.

Chartering Like in Great-Grandfather's Day
If you’d like to experience a special sailing adventure, you can sign up for a day aboard a traditional sailing ship. The 100-year-old flat-bottomed sailing ship Weisse Düne, captained by Jane Bothe, offers cruises on the Achterwasser from May through September. From the natural harbor of Krummin, the “Romantik”—an old Zeesenboat that once served as a working sailboat for coastal fishermen—sets sail. Everyone is welcome to lend a hand!

Maritime Charm in Usedom's Harbors
The well-developed and modern marina is located in the north of the island of Usedom on the eastern shore of the Peene Strait. Among water sports enthusiasts, the marina has long been renowned for its service and hospitality, nestled in a beautiful coastal landscape with a touch of romance and luxury.
The Karnin marina is located in the southwest of the island of Usedom, at the western end of the Kleines Haff. Karnin serves as a customs port for vehicles entering or leaving Germany via the Kleines Haff. Impossible to miss in the Peene Strait: a remnant of the Karnin railway lift bridge.
The beautifully situated natural harbor of Krummin is located in the northwest of the island of Usedom, in the northern part of the Krumminer Wiek. This owner-operated private marina is the first four-star marina on the island of Usedom. On the idyllic marina terrace, you can enjoy a sundowner with a breathtaking view of the Achterwasser.
The Peenemünde Main Harbor is the former harbor of the naval base of the GDR’s 1st Flotilla. Two museum ships are located here—the submarine “U-461” of the Baltic Red Banner Fleet and the People’s Navy missile speedboat “Tarantul”—attract a lot of attention. There are interesting museums near the harbor, such as the Phänomenta and the Peenemünde Historical-Technical Museum, so you should plan a shore excursion.
The Stagnieß Marina is located just outside the seaside resort of Ückeritz and blends perfectly into the idyllic natural setting on the eastern shore of the Achterwasser. It was originally a loading port. The marina was renovated and expanded to include a rest stop for waterway travelers on Usedom.
The small, sheltered recreational boat harbor of the Zinnowitz Yacht Club is primarily used by local small yachts. Passenger ships and river cruise ships also dock here. The coast guard has its docking spot here. The Baltic Sea beach at Zinnowitz, complete with its bustling boardwalk and 500-meter-long pier, is just under two kilometers away.
Marina Kröslin is located in the northern part of the Peenestrom, across from Peenemünde on the mainland. With approximately 500 docking spots for sailboats and motor yachts up to 20 meters in length and a draft of up to six meters, this sheltered harbor is one of the largest on the German Baltic Sea coast.
Windsurfing on Usedom
Windsurfing, which evolved from surfing, is now a very popular, classic water sport—the “mother of all board sports,” so to speak. Equipped with a windsurfing board and the rig mounted on it, you can learn to windsurf. We recommend taking an introductory course at one of the windsurfing schools on the island of Usedom.
Stand-Up Paddleboarding on Usedom
Stand-up paddling (SUP) is a leisure sport that originated in the United States. Surf instructors in Hawaii picked up this method of transportation from Polynesian fishermen. SUP has now become an integral part of Usedom’s waters. Equipped with a wide board and a paddle, you’ll set out on a tour near the coast. You’ll need to balance out the waves by shifting your weight, which helps build muscle.

Kitesurfing on Usedom
Kitesurfing, a trendy sport, is fascinating even just to watch. The kitesurfer is connected by lines to a kite, which he can control and steer. The wind lifts him and his kitesurf board—similar to a snowboard—above the water’s surface. Kitesurfing demands a lot of strength and endurance. The best way to test your skills is at one of the surf and kite schools on Usedom’s sports beaches.

Water Skiing & Wakeboarding on Usedom
In water skiing, you stand on two narrow skis and are pulled across the water by a motorboat or a water ski lift. Wakeboarding is an evolution of water skiing: in this sport, you stand sideways on the board, similar to how you would on a snowboard. Try your hand at the tricks that wakeboarders pull off when jumping off a wave. You can take lessons in this sport at the Kaiserbäder, for example.
An empty stomach doesn't like to surf
Water sports work up an appetite. That’s why a boat rental with a restaurant is the perfect combination. You’ll find one, for example, in Ückeritz at Café Knatter, which has its own surf shack and guesthouse. There, after an action-packed day of surfing on the idyllic Achterwasser, you can head straight to bed. Kiki’s Boat Rental in Loddin also helps you replenish those burned calories right away. Always remember: Don’t go out on the water on an empty stomach!

Treasure Hunt on the Water
Outdoor Usedom wants to offer you truly special experiences in nature—not just by bike or on foot, but also on the water. Experience nature’s awakening at sunrise in a kayak. Glide almost silently into the sunset on an electric boat. Or set out on a pirate treasure hunt on the high seas. You also have the option to rent exclusive kayaks for your own exploration tours.
