Moving Forward with the Sun in the Tank

Not only can you soak up the sun on Usedom, but your electric car can, too. The community energy cooperative Inselwerke eG operates charging stations all over the island. To ensure that the sun’s energy goes straight into the “tank,” they also operate solar carports in Ahlbeck and Karlshagen.

Charging Electric Cars: Charging Network on Usedom

Inselwerke eG provides a charging network on Usedom and the adjacent mainland, consisting of 22 public standard charging points and 2 fast-charging points (mainland). The company works closely with its local partners. Hoteliers, vacation home rental companies, cafés, and, of course, the island’s local communities all work hand in hand. While your electric vehicle is charging, you can recharge yourself with a walk along the Baltic Sea, through the inland countryside, or a visit to one of the nearby cafés.

Why not rent an "Elektro-Schwalbe"?

The iconic GDR moped is back! E-Ossi in Heringsdorf has a true classic combined with state-of-the-art e-technology in store for you: With an “Elektroschwalbe,” you can explore the most beautiful corners of the island of Usedom in a completely eco-friendly and nostalgic way. Ride past the traffic jams on an Elektroschwalbe. Turn heads with its charming retro design and full electric power.

Travel to Poland in your electric vehicle

Of course, you can also take an electric car on a trip to the Polish side of Usedom. However, please note that there isn’t yet a comprehensive charging network there. There are charging stations in the port city of Świnoujście, but some are reserved exclusively for hotel guests or taxi drivers. Be sure to check in advance or charge your car while you’re still on the German side (for example, in Heringsdorf).
