The Island's Artistic Hub

Do you enjoy combining walks with visits to small art galleries while on vacation? Then come to Koserow. Here, nature and culture go hand in hand. No wonder the renowned painter Otto Niemeyer-Holstein chose to make this his retreat.

The Original Heart of the Island

Koserow offers more of old Usedom than almost any other town on the island. The oldest church on the outer coast stands here. The historic complex of salt huts, designated a cultural heritage site, offers a deep glimpse into the past. And nowhere else is the legend of the sunken city of Vineta and the myth of the Amber Witch as vivid as it is here. Plus, you’ll find what might just be the best herring in the Baltic Sea and one of the most popular ice cream parlors in the north.

Two Superlatives Right in the Center of the Island

The new star of Koserow stretches out in a wave-like curve into the Baltic Sea: the Koserow Pier. Nearly 300 meters of space for strolling, relaxing, and breathing in the Baltic Sea air—complete with sunrise and sunset views. Want to go higher? Then climb the Streckelsberg—at 58 meters, it’s the highest point on Usedom’s outer coast. Legend has it that the pirate Klaus Störtebeker once hid here.

Typical Koserow

  • Bernsteinbad at the narrowest part of the island
  • Ultra-modern pier
  • Highest mountain on Usedom’s outer coast
  • Fun & action for families in Karl’s Adventure Village
  • Oldest church on the outer coast
  • Art museum dedicated to the painter Otto Niemeyer-Holstein

Accessible Koserow

Koserow is a project site for accessible travel. You can move around barrier-free throughout the Baltic Sea resort, including on the promenade and the pier. With a beach wheelchair, you can even take a dip in the refreshing Baltic Sea. You can borrow one for free from the lifeguards. Click here for more information.

Fish straight from the fisherman—you can actually still find that here in Koserow. Keep an eye out for the two fish smokehouses, Sadewasser and Udo’s Fischräucherei, near the pier plaza. During the summer months, you can get fresh smoked fish there every day.
