Ein Stück Usedom für zu Hause

Go from the hustle and bustle of the big city to the sound of the waves in 90 minutes: During peak season, you can fly to Heringsdorf from several major German cities and from Luxembourg. That way, you won’t waste any time on your trip to Germany’s beautiful sunny island.
Heringsdorf Airport is about 8 km from the seaside resort of Heringsdorf. Aviation pioneer Otto Lilienthal, who was born in Anklam in 1817 just outside of Usedom, studied the flying techniques of storks and cranes on the island with his brother. This later inspired him to make his first attempts at flight. It is therefore fair to say that Western Pomerania is the cradle of human aviation.
Today’s Heringsdorf Airport opened in 1925 for military use and has been continuously expanded. Today, it is one of the oldest airports on German soil. Even the approach over the sea to the sunny island of Usedom is a highlight. As the region’s popularity grows, air travel is also becoming increasingly important. If booked in advance, flights to Usedom are your quickest alternative to traveling by car.

Once you’ve arrived on the sunny island of Usedom, you’ll probably want to check into your accommodations first. In Heringsdorf, there are several options for continuing your journey. Many hotels offer a shuttle service. Regional bus lines 284 and 286 will also take you to the seaside resort of Heringsdorf or to Dargen. You can also rent a car from Europcar and Sixt at the airport. Please make your reservation in advance!
