FAQ

You ask—we answer! We’re happy to share our knowledge about Usedom with you and provide valuable tips to keep in mind as you plan your vacation.
Vacation Planning and Booking
You can purchase tickets for nearly all paid events online under "Book Leisure Activities," through Reservix, or at the tourist information offices.
Of course, you can also reserve your beach chair in advance. You can get the contact information for beach chair rental companies in your desired location by calling the local tourist information office, or you can simply book your beach chair online .
Beach wheelchairs can be rented at several locations on Usedom. In Trassenheide and Ückeritz, they are available free of charge from the lifeguards. Alternatively, you can rent beach wheelchairs from the rental company Handicap for your vacation.
As in almost all German curative and resort towns, a resort fee (formerly known as the “Kurtaxe”) is charged on Usedom. You can find an overview of costs, including all services, under “Visitor's Fee.”
Getting There & Getting Around Locally
You can reach the island of Usedom by car via the bridges in Wolgast and Zecherin near Anklam. These bridges are opened several times a day to allow for boat traffic and are closed to car traffic during those times. You can find the bridge opening times under “Travel by Car.”
If you'd like to get around the island comfortably by train or bus, you can find the schedules either at the local tourist information offices or at the travel center near the Heringsdorf train station. You can also view the schedules online .
Things to Do on Usedom
On our "Excursions and Experiences" page, you'll find a wide variety of attractions that Usedom has to offer.
At certain times of the day and year, it’s possible to explore Usedom’s beaches on horseback. The northern part of the island offers the best conditions for this: the beach there is up to 70 meters wide. Rides on well-trained, off-road-capable horses take place along the riding beaches in the morning until 9 a.m. and in the evening starting at 6 p.m.
As a general rule, dogs are only allowed on designated dog beaches during the peak season. For more information, see Dog Beaches.
No, barbecuing and open fires are not permitted on the beach. This is specified in the respective local ordinances.
